Gone are the days when an ‘A’ list reality show contestant was the bigger draw than the winner. In 2018 the one getting paid far more dough — or even not getting paid — is the one who actually wins.

According to reports, this year’s lineup of ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ contestants is seeing multiple pay rises. Seven of the 12 contestants were paid as much as £1 million ($1.3 million), according to The Sun. The other six stars are believed to have been given smaller rises.

A recent ITV report stated: “The production team gets its costs covered from the show’s profits and in addition the contestants are paid by ITV.” The pay scale for former contestants is estimated to cost the production company around £25,000 ($35,000) per season. The report even went on to state that “former guests often use a combination of different jobs to make ends meet.”

The last winner was Georgia Toffolo, who was crowned the Queen of the Jungle in 2017.

The famous jungle duo from 2016, Joel Dommett and Scarlett Moffatt, returned for an appearance during the 2017 edition. Whilst they didn’t actually win the show, they were sure to draw in the crowds and brought a spike in audience numbers.
