Novak Djokovic was passed up for the top ranking, but in 2017, the Serbian player will take home his second US Open trophy after beating John Isner 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-7(6), 7-6(3), 6-4 in the men’s final at Flushing Meadows on Tuesday.
At the US Open in 2009, Djokovic held the world number one ranking and was ready to enter the championship match as the favorite in his only title match against Rafael Nadal.
At the US Open in 2015, Djokovic clinched his second Grand Slam title after beating Kei Nishikori in an incredible semifinal rally that lasted nearly 4 hours.

Now, at his second US Open final, Djokovic said about the trophy:
“This tournament was very special for me as one of my first Grand Slam titles.”
Rafael Nadal said about his lone Slam victory:
“It was an amazing match, an amazing moment.”
